Got Art

Finely got to Ariana Gallery, Royal Oak, MI, before closing this time, so I got to see more than what is in the window. This gallery is such a Gem. The mosaic's they have on display are just amazing. Another really great place for one of a kind, handcrafted items is the Town Peddler, Livonia, MI, and where some of my pieces are for sale inside the "Cafe" section.. While Ariana is small and quaint the Peddler is vast and you can spend the whole afternoon there and not see everything.
Viewing mosaics in person apposed to seeing a picture on line is like night and day, so take some time and go see how much more awesome they are. Although mosaics should be viewed at a distance, I'm always drawn in to appreciate all the intricate work and that goes into each piece. Go Art!

Just Saying

I went by Ariana Gallery, Royal Oak, MI , last night to see the MAM spotlight showing, went to late so it was closed. The window display was worth the trip, it was set up really well for great viewing. The artists on display are incredibly talented, just amazing jaw dropping creations. The glasses use by most of the artist is crazy awesome. Glass is very expensive and not only unaffordable for me, but if purchased goes against my personal mission statement, to reuse and recycle when ever possible. Thus my art is of all recycled material. I enjoy the challenge of using limited supplies and palette to create what is in my minds eye. I must say I am jealous of all that beautiful glass, hoping some will come my way someday.

Thank you for checking me out!

Epic Recycling

Like most mosaic artists have some pieces that I have abandoned and a few that I have on hold. If you are no longer inspired while doing a piece it shows. Since I'm committed to using as much recycled material in my pieces as I can, I think it would be awesome to be able to exchanged abandoned pieces. That would be epic recycling.

Sherbet

Sherbet
A little girls love of butterflies and sherbet was the inspiration for this piece. I knew when I stated this piece I would not want the usual options of grout colors. Since the grout color can make or break a piece getting it right is very important....so I decided to mix my own. This was my first attempt at mixing my own grout colors, I mixed alabaster, plum and black to achieve this color grout Amazing I love the color.
